SNACKS

Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1

Children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day as part of the Government’s School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme.

This provides one of their 5 A DAY portions. It also helps to increase awareness of the importance of eating fruit and vegetables and encourages healthy eating habits that can be carried into later life.

One item of fruit or vegetable is provided each day at morning break time.

  • bananas

  • apples

  • pears

  • carrots

  • tomatoes

  • easy-peel citrus fruits, such as satsumas

  • dried fruit – sultanas and raisins.

Key Stage 2

Many children like to eat a snack at morning break time. We encourage them bring an item of fruit or vegetables to eat at break time.

LUNCH

Children may bring a packed lunch or order a hot lunch from The Farm Kitchen.  Drinks must be brought in unbreakable containers.  No glass bottles, no fizzy drinks, or ring pull containers and nothing hot either please!

Kirton is a nut-free school. Please do not send your child with any food containing nuts, such as peanut butter or chocolate-hazelnut spread.

HOT DINNERS

We work closely with a local supplier to provide a healthy cooked lunch. Hot dinners are available to order in advance.  Please visit The Farm Kitchen to order a lunch for your child.  You will require a login which can be setup by Willoughby Foods.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

In line with Government policy, the school provides free cooked meals for all pupils in Key Stage 1 (Year Reception, Year 1 and Year 2).

Pupils in Key Stage 2 continue to be able to purchase a meal.

To find out if your Key Stage 2 child is entitled to free school meals, please see the information on the Lincolnshire County Council's website.

If you think your family may be entitled you can apply by visiting the Lincolnshire County Council online parent portal.
